Red circle with a number in it!

Sometimes it seems like my whole life revolves around this simple smudge of red. Seeking acknowledgement from people around the globe, no matter how small and insignificant that acknowledgement may be. A login to the great network seems to have no meaning if I don't see that someone has interacted with my profile, pictures or linked items. I long for it, and must admit to a small disappointment when there's been no development on my small part of this network. So I have to contend myself with browsing through the feed served to me in the form of a long list that I can scroll through, giving me a small glimpse into the lives of my friends. Not quite as satisfying, but interesting enough for me to spend minutes on checking out video clips and pictures of people I know. It has turned me and many with me into mini stalkers.

But there are some positive aspects of the whole interconnectedness of it. It's easier to keep in touch with old friends and aquaintances. To feel that you still can have some impact on their life and make a difference. And the strange thing is that you actually do make a difference. By creating that red circle with a number in it on their profile they will feel the satisfaction of knowing that someone is thinking of them.

And you reading this now, makes a difference in my life.
